By train/bus:

Saalfeld has a station with Inter City Express connexion to all major German cities. From there, a local bus goes to the fairy Grottoes twice an hour.

The station is also a good starting point for rail trips into the near Thuringian forest.

By car, coach or caravan:

A 9 exit Triptis - B 281
A 4 exit Jena - B 88
A 71 exit Arnstadt Sud - via Stadtilm

There are sufficiently free parking possibilities at the grottoes for cars and busses. Caravans are invited to stay on a quiet site near the forest, adjacent to the Fairy Grottoes park.
